I live in a magical community in Sarasota, called Pelican Cove. I often mention the beauty of this place in my posts, but today, I wanted to highlight cultural events that make this community truly unique.
To give you a glimpse of what I’m talking about, below is a photo of one of our info boards – a snapshot of the events that we have going on here all the time. Art shows, lectures, workshops, group activities, and social gatherings cater to different interests and passions. We have something interesting to do every day of the week, often with multiple events happening on the same day in one of our three clubhouses.
One of the highlights of our cultural scene is our music concert scene. Whether you’re into classical, jazz, pop, or world music, you can find something that tickles your fancy. Imagine being surrounded by the beauty of our greenery while enjoying some of the best musical performances around – it’s an experience like no other.
But wait – there is more 🙂 Much, much more.
We also have the Pelican Cove University, where retired professors and scholars share their knowledge during the winter season. It’s a fantastic program that offers a wide range of lectures covering everything from history to modern literature and beyond. It is a vibrant intellectual atmosphere that further enriches the cultural experience of living here.
And of course, the lush landscape. A true canopy of trees, old trees with a lot of shade, not just a few palms here and there like it usually is in Florida. Pelican Cove has over 100 different species of trees on 75 acres of land. Gorgeous blooming trees like jacaranda, tulip tree, orchid tree – and unique massive evergreens like the Australian pine tree . All that was refined with the help of the same designer who created the famous Selby Garden, so you can only imagine how breathtaking it is.
So, there you have it – Now you know why I will never ever move from here. Pelican Cove is my paradise that keeps me feeling inspired and rejuvenated. I will be here until time comes when they will move me 🙂
